Environment Information
At Rill Architects we run ArchiCAD on macOS. If you work at Rill, this is your stuff. If you don't, but you work in ArchiCAD, you may find something interesting. Anybody else, I don't know.

Project Map
- Contains everything in the project. Any window can be opened from here.
- Only opens the window; layers, scale, and display options not changed or saved.
View Sets
- Replaces Quickviews.
-- Saves layers, scale, and/or zoom.
-- Display Options always saved.
-- Can have any number of sets.
-- Sets can be divided into folders.

- Visible to PlotMaker.
-- Plotmaker can read the views in the PLN file and place them directly, without using PMKs.

- Saving Views.
  1. Select correct View Set at top of panel.
  2. Click the flyout to the right and select 'Save Current View...'
  3. Name the View and select 'Current Zoom' or 'None.'
- Creating a Folder.
  1. Select correct View Set at top of panel.
  2. Click the flyout to the right and select 'Create New Folder...'
  3. The folder will appear in the list. Name it and move it to the right place.
-- Note: If a folder is selected when create a new one, The new folder becomes a subfolder of that selection.
-- Note: It is very difficult (impossible?) to move a subfolder between folders when the are expanded. Try closing the lowermost folder, dragging the new one below that, then dragging it to correct closed folder.

- Redefining Views.
  1. Set the layers, scale and display options as needed.
  2. Single-click on the View to modify.
  3. Select 'Redefine View...' from the top right flyout.
  4. Proceed like saving a View.
-- Note: Views can be redefined in groups; shift-click to accumulate selection. Selecting a folder doesn't work.

- Cloning a folder.
-- Folders can dynamically represent information divisions within the project. Examples: Stories, Sections/Elevations, Details, 3D Views. When a new story, section, detail or view is created, the folder is automatically updated with a View to the new window, with the settings of the folder.
-- Cloned folders cannot be reordered, but the Views can be renamed.
-- Cloned folders are essentially copies of their respective divisions in the Project Map.

- View Sets in the Template files.
-- ! Working Views
-- #0 Schematic Design
-- #1 Design Development
-- #2 CDs
-- Note: Except for 'Working Views', the plan, S/E, and detail folders in these sets are not cloned, so when new windows are created they must be added to the Sets manually. Otherwise, they won't show up when Importing in PlotMaker.

- Misc.
-- Can't set layers independent of window.
-- No multi-story views.
-- In practice, these means there's no equivalent for the 'Working SED' Quickview. Instead, there's a 'Working SED' folder, which represents the stories with the 'Working SED' layers on. Additionally, we have a cloned folder for the actual S/E windows, with the 'Working SED' layers on.
