On Land

Environment Information
At Rill Architects we run ArchiCAD on macOS. If you work at Rill, this is your stuff. If you don't, but you work in ArchiCAD, you may find something interesting. Anybody else, I don't know.

Tech Meeting Notes, PlotMaker 3, July 29, 2003.

Layout Book
- Contains Layouts, Master Layouts, subsets (folders)
- Subsets control automatic numbering
- Add project code to Layout names
Master Layouts
- Elements show on all layouts using the Master.
- Can have more than one.
Autotext
- Dynamic text elements, e.g., sheet numbers.
- Place in open text block.
- Sort-of works from AC
Navigator
- Tree by subsets.
-- One for each sheet number division.
- Drawing Usage (moved!)
-- Update views/drawings.
-- Can't copy layout and 'Link To' another drawing or view; both will change. Rats.
- Moving drawings and views between layouts.
-- Drag drawings or views.
-- Position is maintained. Sweet!
Using PMKs
- Import; no more 'Add Drawing'
- Good for slow-changing info: Perspectives, notes, etc.
- Use Publisher in AC
Importing PLN Views
- Must save the PLN file.
- Must have proper views set up in Archicad Navigator.
- Can relink placed views to a new PLN.
- Howto:
  1. File | Import...
  2. Select the PLN or PLC.
  3. Select the correct View Set from the pulldown.
  4. Check the View/s you want to import.
  5. Typically, Select 'Place Drawings in Current Layout'. Note: The default is 'Append new Layouts...' If you do this by mistake, just drag the view from the bad layout to the right one. Also, it snaps back, so you have to check it every time.
  6. Wait.
  7. Move the frame where you want it.
Plotting
- Plot Active Layout, Selected in Navigator, or Entire Layout Book. Be careful.
Using PM3 with AC7
- Howto:
  1. Import your existing Layouts.
  2. Move drawings around, delete title blocks.
  3. Delete new Masters.
- Of course, views cannot be imported from AC7 projects.
Misc.
- Frame scale changes don't stick. Make sure view in Archicad is the right scale.
