On Land

Environment Information
At Rill Architects we run ArchiCAD on macOS. If you work at Rill, this is your stuff. If you don't, but you work in ArchiCAD, you may find something interesting. Anybody else, I don't know.

Rilldeck is now officially 'inoperative.'

Everyone is now running from the new server, 'Nature.' Even if you don't know you are.

A summary of the changes, non-changes, improvements, and your (!) responsibilities.

Projects:

All projects will have to load libraries from the new location, which is 2 Libraries : Master LIB 8 (or 7). Note the name change on the carrot, which now contains only Libraries.

For version 7 projects, the layout files seem to usually find their PMKs without fanfare. I have seen exceptions to this which I can't explain, but they are rare. If a link breaks, use Drawing Usage to Link to the appropriate file.

For version 8 projects, the layout books CANNOT FIND the linked views or, strangely, PMKs. You must use Drawing Usage to reacquaint the layout book with its project and PMKs. In Drawing Usage, organize the list by 'link', then select all the lines where the link is 'Project'. Click 'Link to...' and find the project file. It should find all the views since none of them have changed. Select the 'PlotMaker Drawing' lines and link them to your drawings folder. All you need to do now is update.

To reemphasize, you MUST fix your links before outputting any drawings.

Contacts & Calendar:

You will only notice a difference if I have messed something up. If some aspect of your contacts or calendar isn't right, tell me. It is very likely the result of an omission on my part. Speak up!

Server Volumes:

1 Projects (the Hotel) stays the same.
2 Libraries (the Carrot) contains only libraries. The other resources are moved to...
3 Resources (the Red Onion) contains the old CAD resources, plus other software and technical resources from the old Office volume, including fonts, icons, Archicad Program files, other software installers, etc.
4 Office (the Hard Hat) contains only office files.
5 Past Projects (the Eggplant) stays the same.

Archicad people should have the Hotel and Carrot mount at startup. Others should have the Hotel and Hard Hat. If these are not working, let me know.

Plotter:

Update: Strike the following paragraph. PlotFlow has a permissions issue which, long story short, means everyone has to run PlotFlow locally.

[The new server is capable of, and is in fact, running PlotFlow. This takes Jim's machine out of the process. Bye bye 'Blue'. Everyone should have a toolbar icon for the plotter, which is a local alias to a folder on the Red Onion called 'PlotFlow Spool'. If you don't have this, or it doesn't work, tell me. Hint: test this before your life depends on it!]

Connections:

Our new server license allows unlimited connections, instead of the old 10. No more 'can't allow any more users to log on'.

UPDATE: Also in AC7, your hotlinks will be broken. You will need to 'Save All Into' the new location (1 Projects : ProjectName : 1 CDs : !Drawings).
